Abstract

1442493 Rollers SCHWEITER ENG WORKS Ltd 27 Feb 1974 [24 April 1973] 8919/74 Heading F2U A segmental core insert to form a core element for winding bodies, and to hold the winding bodies on a spooling spindle, comprises a plurality of segments (three as shown) each being a sector of a cylinder and each having a cellular structure. The cells shown are hexagonal, honeycomb shaped. The segments 1, 2, 3 are mounted on a spreading spindle (not shown) which expands the insert to radially clamp a sleeve or tube on the spindle, the sleeve or tube then having thread wound on it. The segments 1, 2 and 3 can be of aluminium alloy and can be cast in moulds.
