1441930 Fire safety system K G SMOKE DISPERSAL Ltd 22 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 41054/73 Heading A5A A fire safety system for use in a building having a plurality of accommodation units 2 to 9 and at least one communal unit 1 providing access thereto comprises smoke or fire detectors 30 to 37 in each of the accommodation units controlling air conditioning units 21 to 28 located in the exterior walls of the accommodation units, the units 21 to 28 containing a fan which reverses its direction from the normal state of operation and extracts air and smoke from the accommodation unit or units when fire or smoke is detected in the respective unit or units by the detectors. The system may be so arranged that even when the air conditioning units are turned off in the accommodation units the fans therein are actuable to extract air and smoke in response to the detectors.
