1441397 Toothed gearing DR-ING hcF PORSCHE AG 4 Oct 1973 [7 Oct 1972] 46464/73 Heading F2Q A rack and pinion steering arrangement comprises a rack 1 slidably mounted in bearings 2, a pinion 4 engaging the rack 1, and a track rod 6, 7 mounted at each end of the rack, the pressure angle between the pinion and rack being between 10 and 20 degrees, so that the bearings 2 are subjected to minimum frictional forces when the steering wheel is turned and the angle between each track rod and the rack lying between 20 and 35 degrees so that frictional forces are produced in the bearings when the track rods are subjected to forces from the vehicle wheels.
