Abstract

1441308 Vapour depositing photo-conductive materials; germanium electro-plating RICOH KK 1 Aug 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 36561/73 Headings C7B and C7F [Also in Division G2] A layer of germanium is produced on a copper plate by electrolysis of a solution of (a) GeO 2 in H 2 SO 4 , (b) GeO 2 in aqueous KOH, (c) GeS 2 in aqueous KOH + Na 2 S or (d) GeCl 4 or Gel 4 in ethylene glycol. An aluminium plate has vacuum deposited thereon a layer of Ge, Si, AlSb or Sb 2 S 3 and then a layer of an alloy of Se + As or Se + Te. A polyester film has a layer of copper iodide provided thereon by electron beam evaporation followed by vacuum deposited layers of Ge and Se + Te alloy. The substrate may also be metal-paper laminates and glass coated with Cr or tin oxide.
