1441055 Toy vehicles and launchers therefor MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES 30 May 1974 [5 Nov 1973] 24068/74 Heading A6S A toy combination 10 comprises a toy wheeled vehicle 14, a shell, e.g. a simulated ammunition shell 16, into which the vehicle is initially fitted, and a rifle-like launching implement 12-including a compartment for receiving the shell 16 and the vehicle 14 as a unit-for launching the toy vehicle 14 whilst retaining the shell 16. The launching implement 12 includes a spring biassed plunger 38 which is cocked by a bolt arm 60 and released by operation of a trigger 20 so that the plunger 38 moves forward under the action of spring 44 and strikes the rear of the toy vehicle 14 causing it to be impelled down a ramp 56 and out of the launching implement 12; the shell 16 is retained within the lanching implement 12 and rejected through an opening 68 when the launching implement is again cooked. Two safety interlocking mechanisms 110 and 144, 160, 162, etc are provided such that the toy 10 cannot be fired unless the launching implement 12 is supported on a flat surface as shown in Fig. 2 and loaded with an object at least the same size and shape as the toy vehicle 14. The toy vehicle 14, Fig. 10, has a metal chassis 76 and a lighter body 90 made for example of a plastics material, it has two rear wheels 72 fixed on an axle 92 and one heavy castor-type front wheel 98. A leaf-spring 108 bears onto a toothed wheel 106 for producing a sound when the rear axle 92 rotates. A further safety device 192-196 has to be overcome by hand before the toy 10 can be fired, so that the launching implement can only be fired by using two hands simultaneously.
