Abstract

1440986 Baling fibres MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 27 Nov 1973 [27 Nov 1972] 54974/73 Heading B5F A machine for preconsolidating and compressing fibres into a bale comprises a fibre collecting duct 1 with an air-permeable, but fibre-retaining inner wall 3 for recieving and venting fibres conveyed by an air stream, an outer wall 9 with an air outlet 13, a baling chamber 34 arranged perpendicularly of the duct 1, and a slide 32 which cuts off the duct from the press and is opened when the fibre level in the duct has reached means 18, 19. These means comprise an ultrasonic transmitter and receiver which are vertically adjustable. When the slide is opened a flap 14 in the outlet 13 is closed. The inner wall comprises an untensioned flexible hose. When the fibres compressed in the chamber 34 reach the level of gauge 36, a gate 38 is opened and the press vane 35 pushes the fibres out of the chamber and between arms (40-43) which hold the bale until it is manually tied. Pistons mounted on the arms prevent backward movement of the bale. A control 23 emits an intermittent acoustic signal and prevent further actuation of the slide 32 when the gauge 36 is actuated. The signal is rendered continuous and the delivery of fibres stopped if these is such a fibre build up in the duct that manometer 27, 30 senses a predetermined pressure difference between the duct 1 and the surrounding space.
