1440559 Ceramic powder production SIEMENS AG 22 Jan 1975 [28 Jan 1974 13 Dec 1974] 2710/75 Heading C1J A ceramic powder (e.g. a ferrite, titanate, garnet or zirconate) is made by forming a suspension of at least one metal oxide and/or metal hydroxide and/or metal carbonate in a liquid, atomizing the suspension into a gaseous atmosphere locally heated so that the maximum temperature present is 700‹ to 1100‹C. and subjecting the atomized material to a heat treatment in the gaseous atmosphere for a mean dwell time of 15-150 seconds. The gaseous atmosphere may be oxidizing, reducing or neutral. A temperature gradient may be established in the atmosphere and the suspension atomized into the atmosphere in the direction of increasing temperature. The particles may be constrained to perform a circular motion in the atmosphere. The examples describe the production of MnZnTi, and MnZn ferrites.
