Abstract

1439793 Polyether polyether-polysiloxane demulsifier compositions for wet petroleum TH GOLDSCHMIDT AG 16 Oct 1973 [18 Oct 1972] 48221/73 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions B1 and C5] A demulsifier composition for breaking waterin-oil crude petroleum emulsions comprises (a) 0À2-30 wt. per cent of a polyoxyalkylene-polysiloxane block copolymer, wherein each polyoxyalkylene block is of molecular weight 500- 4000 and contains oxyethylene and oxypropylene units in the weight ratio 40 : 60 to 100 : 0, and each siloxane block contains 3-50 Si atoms, and (b) 70-99À8 wt. per cent of a silicon-free polyoxyalkylene demulsifier which is I, an adduct of ethylene and/or propylene oxide on to an alkylphenol-aldehyde resin or II, a block or random copolymer of oxyethylene and oxypropylene units, or III a reaction product of either of these with a dicarboxylic acid or of II or a mixture of I or II with a crosslinking agent, or IV is mixture of any of these. In the examples water is broken out of crude petroleum using as (b) a polyoxyethylenated then polyoxypropylenated nonylphenol-aldehyde resin or a polyoxyethylenated polypropylene glycol and/or a mixture of these cross-linked with toluene diisocyanate, and as (a) a block copolymer of 10 blocks of 4 Me 2 SiO units and 11 polyoxyethylene-oxypropylene blocks.
