Abstract

1439652 Mobile turntable ladders CARL METZ GmbH 7 June 1973 27225/73 Heading E1S A mobile turntable ladder comprises a set of ladders 10 mounted on a horizontal axle 11 on a revolving turret 8 which is mounted about a vertical axis on the chassis 7 of a vehicle, the ladders being elevatable by means of the axle 11, and the axle being journalled at least at one end in a member 13 rotatably mounted on the turret 8 about an axis offset from the axis of the axle 11, whereby when the vehicle is on sloping ground, the axle and thus the ladder rungs may be maintained horizontal. As shown, the ends of the axle 11 are journalled in bearings which are located eccentrically in rotatable circular plates 13, and by appropriate movement of one or both plates 13 by a device 14, e.g. a hydraulic jack or a rotary motor, the inclination of the axle relative to the turret is adjusted as necessary. The jacks or motors may be actuatable by a switch on the axle designed to sense deviations from the horizontal, and may have locking means to secure the plates 13 in position. In a modification, (Fig. 5, not shown), the axle 11 is journalled in rotatable flanges projecting from the turret.
