Abstract

1439004 Arc welding of copper BOC INTERNATIONAL Ltd 24 July 1973 [27 July 1972] 35190/73 Heading B3R In a method of welding copper or any metal alloy containing at least 95% by weight of pure copper, the article or the portion thereof to be welded is heated to a temperature of not more than 500‹ C., the weld metal is deposited from a continuous wire electrode and the arc is shielded by a gas mixture comprising helium 10 to 40 oxygen 2 to 7 argon balance in percentage by volume at atmospheric pressure. The shielding gas mixture may be supplied from a cylinder in which it is stored.
