Abstract

1438275 Valves SANDALL PRECISION CO Ltd 28 June 1973 [29 June 1972] 30476/72 Heading F2V A distributor valve comprises a rotatable disc 15 having a central bore 21a, annular grooves 22a, 23a, channels 21b (22b and 23b, Fig. not shown) and bores 21c (22c, 23c) which are connected to any one of eight corresponding sets of bores 21d, 22d, 23d in the body of the valve, the body also having a bore 21 to correspond with bore 21a in the disc, and bores 22 and 23 which connect to the annular grooves (22a, 23a). Thus, in one position of the disc, fluid may enter bore 21, pass to bore 21a, channel 21b, bore 21c and exit at bore 21d to, e.g. a fluid motor, the return connection being made through bores 22d (22c), channel (22b), groove 22a and bore 22. Different fluid apparatus can be connected to each set of bores, utilizing a second fluid inlet 23 is necessary. The disc 15 is biased upwardly away from the sealing faces by a spring 19, and downwardly by fluid pressure acting in a chamber 46. The biasing fluid is admitted via a manually operated spool valve 33. To alter the connections through the disc the spool valve is first actuated to exhaust the chamber 46, the spring 19 biasing the disc upwardly so that it is easily rotatable on bearings 20. When the new connections are made, the spool is actuated to admit fluid pressure to the chamber 46. A detent 27 locates the disc 15 in its various angular positions. Electric contacts 26 are used to indicate the particular positions of the disc.
