1438243 Dispensing liquids BAR-O-MATIC SALES CO 6 Feb 1974 05434/74 Heading A4T Apparatus e.g. for dispensing drinks comprises a reservoir 12, preferably for receiving liquid from an inverted bottle 11, 11', a delivery chamber 30 from which the liquid may be discharged by gaspressure, a chamber 32 for pressurizing the liquid, a first valve 37 for controlling flow from the reservoir 12 to the pressurizing chamber 32 and a second valve 42 for controlling liquid and gas flow between the chambers 30, 32, the valves 37, 42 being co-operable to pressurize and supply quantities of liquid from the reservoir 12 to the delivery chamber 30. Two similar dispensing apparatus 10, 10' may supply a common handheld nozzle 13 e.g. for producing mixed drinks, and pressure is supplied through manual valves 17, 17 and automatic shut-off valves 18 to inlets 15. On discharging liquid through an outlet 20 under the gas-pressure, a float 43 is lowered, a rod 55 being pulled downwards to engage a portion 54a of a valve-member 54, which is thus pulled out of engagement with a valve seat 52. The gaspressure thus flows through a tube 53 surrounding the rod 55, through the valve seat bore 52a and through an outer tube 56 to pressurize the liquid in the chamber 32. When the pressure in the chamber 32 has thus built up, the valve-member 44 of the valve 42 is no longer held against its seat 46 by the pressure differential so that the member 44 falls, allowing the pressurized liquid to flow through an opening 41 into the chamber 32, and closing the valve 52. Pressure within the chamber 32 retains means 39 on a float 38 of the valve 37 in engagement with a seat 40 as the chamber 32 empties, the float 43 rising on the transferred liquid to close the valve 42, and the pressure within the chamber 32 is vented through a tube 57, so that the float 38 falls, opening the valve 37 to allow liquid from the reservoir 12 to flow into the chamber 32 until the float once more causes the valve 37 to close. Alternatively, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), flow between the reservoir and chambers may be controlled by simultaneously operated liquid and gas flow valves (60l), (60g), (611), (61g), a level sensor (62) in the delivery chamber (30') controlling operation.
