Abstract

1436571 Heat fixing CANON KK 16 May 1973 [19 May 1972 5 June 1972 and 5 July 1972(2)] 23365/73 Heading G2H [Also in Division F9] An apparatus for developing and fixing electrostatic images on copy material P includes liquid developing means for developing images on copy material with liquid developer, a drying fixing device A for the copy material bearing a developed image and means for transporting the copy material from the liquid developing means through the drying fixing means, the drying fixing device A comprising a heating member 7 having an upper surface of which at least a portion 71 is inclined to the horizontal and is arranged so that the copy material is transported up the inclined surface portion in contact therewith. As shown the heating member 7 has a convex upper surface which is heated by a plate heater 11 resiliently urged against the lower surface of the member 7. The atmosphere about the drying and fixing device A is drawn away by a blower 5 and this atmosphere may be returned to the device A through ports 20, 23 via a vapour recovery device 26. The returned atmosphere is heated by a heater 24. Discharging rollers 17, 18 are provided. The upper roller of the pair may have a layer of absorbent material thereon and be heated Fig. 2, (not shown) The blower motor may comprise opposed end plates one having a resiliently mounted bearing and the other a resilient mounting for a motor shaft Figs. 3, 4, (not shown).
