Abstract

1436233 Band clamps FABRIQUE D'APPAREILLAGE ELECTRIQUE ET D'ARTICLES METALLIQUES 9 July 1973 [7 July 1972] 32641/73 Heading E2B An adjustable band clamp comprises a toothed flexible strap 1 which extends from a body 10 having a fastening portion which has teeth 14 for engaging the teeth 15 of the strap the fastening portion has a boss 9 and the strap has a profiled portion for engaging the boss such that when the strap and fastening portion are in toothed engagement attempted withdrawal of the strap from the fastening portion causes the boss and the profiled portion to bear together thereby to increase engagement between the teeth of the fastening portion and of the strap. The profiled portion of the strap comprises a slot with series of curved wall portions 13 spaced by bosses 16. The sides of the slot are reinforced by a rib 22. The boss 9 is reinforced by ribs 20 and extends into a slot 3 of the fastening portion into which the teeth 14 project. The opening to the slot 3 is flared to facilitate the entry of a handle 18 on the end of the strap into the slot. The body has lateral recesses 5, 6 and resilient members 7, 8 to provide a seating for the object to be clamped. The 'body has a hole 4 for a fixing screw. The clamp is moulded from plastics.
