Abstract

1434937 Sanitary closet seats NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 25 July 1973 [25 July 1972] 34747/72 Heading E1C A sanitary closet seat for use by infirm or partially incapacitated persons consists of a seat member 10, preferably of moulded plastics material, which includes upwardly extending hand supports, preferably constituted by integral ribs 14 moulded together with the seat member, and a leg structure of adjustable height which supports the seat member under the hand supports and is connected to both the seat member 10 and the closet pan 11 at their rear portions to provide for pivoting of the seat member. The leg structure is preferably formed by a U shaped rod 17 having its base disposed along the underside of the rear of the seat portion and its arms extending under the hand supports to connectors 21 from which fixed or pivoted legs 22 composed of adjustable telescoping tubes 23, 25 extend down to the floor. Further connector 16, 18 respectively secure rod 17 to the pan 11 and pivot the seat to the rod 17.
