Abstract

1434736 Torquemeter coupling LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Oct 1973 [28 July 1972] 35359/72 Heading F2U [Also in Division G1] A driving member 11, Fig. 1, has a boss 12 provided with integrally attached resilient strips 13, 14, 15, Fig. 2, of different thickness and two of which are spaced at different distances from stops 17, 18 provided on a driven member 19. In operation, the strip 13 abutting its stop 16 takes the initial drive until the torque increases and the strip 13 bends to allow the net strip 14 to share the drive by abutting the stop 17. Further increasing torque then permits the strip 15 also to operate. Vernier scales 21, 22, Fig. 1, co-operating with a stroboscope indicate the torque. In Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the resilient strips are all of the same thickness and resilience but are arranged parallel to the driving axis instead of radially to it, and in Fig. 5 (not shown) each different thickness strip cooperates with a stop on either side for driving in either direction. In Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) the driven member extends within the driving member and is rotated by axially arranged strips and may be arranged to operate in two directions.
