Abstract

1434135 Television MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 20 June 1973 [20 June 1972] 29343/73 Heading H4F [Also in Divisions G4-G6] Video playback apparatus includes rotary heads whose output is supplied via rotary transformers 24-29 and which are sequentially switched under control of vertical synchronizing signals in the reproduced signal and a signal representative of the angular position of the heads, to produce slow-motion reproduction of fields on the tape. The transformers have fixed cores 27-29 and rotating cores 24-26 connected to the heads. The head signals are amplified at 32-34, combined at 38 and demodulated at 40 before the vertical synchronized signals are separated at 42 and applied to the trigger inputs T of J-K flip-flops 45-47 forming a ring counter 44. A reset pulse is applied to their set inputs 5 once every head revolution from a transducer 50 responsive to a magnet 48 on a disc 49 rotating with the heads. The flip-flop outputs are applied to transistors 35-37 to switch the head circuits as required. The distance between heads on the tape is slightly greater than two field lengths. The arrangement is similar to that of Specification 1,376,707.
