Abstract

1434015 Pipes POST OFFICE 12 July 1973 [12 July 1972] 32601/72 Heading F2 [Also in Division H1] A pipe includes a lengthwise fin projecting from the surface thereof and bearing at least one printed mark. The fin may project radially or tangentially and bears marks to identify the pipe or its length. The fins may be provided during extrusion of the pipe or joined to it by an adhesive, at a ribbed portion. Alternatively a tape of greater width than the circumference of the pipe may be applied and the two margins of the tape brought together to form the fin. The fin may be flexible to facilitate bending of the pipe and two diametrically opposed fins may be provided. The marks of the fin can be applied as a separate tape and the pipe covered with a transparent sheath.
