Abstract
1433698 Magnetic storage devices ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL CORP 8 Oct 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 43498/74 Heading H3B To reduce the polarization of a magnetic propagation overlay 14 due to the high saturation magnetization of submicron bubbles in a layer 11 of a bubble domain material such as a magnetic rare earth garnet or amorphous metallic GdCo, a magnetic shunt layer 21 of a high permeability material such as permalloy is interposed between the bubble domain layer 11 and the propagation overlay. The magnetic shunt layer may be distinct, or may be an integral thin region of the bubble domain layer the composition of which is changed during manufacture. The propagation overlay consists of permalloy T and I bars, Fig. 2 (not shown), spaced from the magnetic shunt layer by an insulating material 13 such as SiO 2 . A further insulating layer 22 may optionally be provided between the bubble domain layer and the magnetic shunt.
