Abstract

1433079 Grinding crankshafts FRIEDRICH SCHMALTZ G.m.b.H. 5 June 1974 [2 July 1973] 24982/74 Heading B3D A crankshaft grinding machine comprises means for mounting the crankshaft for rotation about its journals 5, a grinding wheel 7 movable to machine the rotating crankpins, the grinding wheel being mounted on a slide 11 movable perpendicularly to the grinding wheel spindle 8 and connected to a crank drive, the arm 15 of which corresponds to the crank arm of the crankshaft and the rod 16 of which corresponds to the distance between the axes of the crankpin and grinding wheel spindle. The crankshaft is mounted by its journals 5 in a device 2 for rotation by a motor 4 and its crankpins 6 are ground by the grinding wheel 7, the spindle 8 of which is mounted on a headstock 9 adjustable on a slide 11. The slide 11 is connected by a pin 17 adjustably to the connecting rod 16, in turn connected by the crank arm 15 to a member 14. The triangles 19, 20 are congruent so that synchronous rotation of the crankshaft 3 and crank arm 15 maintains the grinding wheel in engagement with the crankpin.
