1432407 Purification of diaminomaleonitrile KYOWA GAS CHEMICAL INDUSTRY CO Ltd 13 July 1973 [13 July 1972 (2) 14 July 1972] 33544/73 Heading C2C Diaminomaleonitrile is purified by extracting crude diaminomaleonitrile with a mixture of an extraction solvent A which is a ketone, alcohol, nitrile, ether or ester of acetic acid and a solvent B which is a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon, and separating the diaminomaleonitrile from the extract. The crude material to be purified may be obtained by (1) tetramerization of hydrocyanic acid, or (2) reaction of hydrocyanic acid with cyanogen.
