Abstract

1432082 Ink jet printers INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 15 May 1974 [27 June 1973] 21508/74 Heading B6P An ink printer is characterized by means for enveloping its ink nozzle(s) in a fluid to prevent clogging of the nozzle(s) during shutdown. As particularly described a movable chamber may be used to cover the nozzle(s), the nozzle(s) being immersed in liquid, e.g. detergent in water, or enveloped in the vapour of a liquid also in the chamber. Alternatively the nozzle may be rotatably mounted for immersion in a liquid when not in use.
