Abstract

1431980 Luffing arm apparatus J A MERRICK 28 Dec 1973 59994/73 Heading B8H Hoist, crane or platform elevator comprises a wheeled base 10, 11 with a vertical post 16 mounted thereon. A first pair of links 18, 19 connect the upper end of the post 16 with the lower end of a second post 23 and constitute therewith a first parallelogram linkage. An hydraulic ram 24 is connected between the base and the link 18 to raise the second post 23. A second pair of links 30, 31 interconnect the top of the second post with a third post 34, which carries a platform 39, and constitutes therewith a second parallelogram linkage. A further hydraulic ram 35 extends between the second post and the link 30 to raise the platform and the post 23 is skewed so that the pairs of links can lie alongside each other in the collapsed condition of the apparatus. Separate circuits are provided for each ram 24, 35 and are controlled from a panel 39<SP>1</SP> on the platform or a remote control on the base.
