Abstract
1431967 Cassette tape recorders OLYMPUS KOGAKU KOGYO KK 16 Oct 1973 [20 Oct 1972] 48231/73 Heading G5R A cassette-type magnetic tape recorder is placed in the replay mode when a recording and replay operation control member 32 and a recording operation control member 34 are both moved in a first direction from respective first positions to respective second positions, and in the record mode when member 32 is moved in the first direction from its first to second position together with movement of member 34 from its first position in a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction, to a third position and then in the first direction from the third position to a fourth position. Replay mode.-Movement of member 32 moves a slidable plate 138, Fig. 5, whereby a lug 282, Fig. 4, thereof closes contacts 134, 136 to drive a motor 44 at normal speed, and a pin 148 on plate 138 moves a plate 50 to engage a record/ replay head 46 thereon with the tape, movement of plate 50 allowing a spring 70 to pivot a lever 66 to engage a pinch wheel 68 with the capstan 42 and to engage a retaining pin 76 in the cassette. Sliding of the plate 138 also rotates a lever 182 to disengage an arm 184 from an arm 284 to allow a spring force to engage the motor shaft 198 with the rubber peripheral ring 288 of a flywheel 286 coupled to capstan 42, drive being transmitted to a take-up spool shaft 40 via a belt 102 engaging a gear 108 meshed with a gear 106. Record mode.-The movement of member 34 in the second direction renders a lever 88 effective to sense the presence or absence of a fin (35), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the cassette, fin absence allowing lever 88 to move to a position in which it engages a lug 283 on plate 138 to prevent movement of members 32, 34 in the first direction thereby preventing recording. If the fin is present member 32 can move to effect the same operations as in the replay mode, and the movement of member 34 in the second direction engages a sliding plate 78 with plate 50 to thereby move an erase head 80 on plate 78 against the tape, a pin 208 on the plate 78 moving a lever 214 to change over a replay/record switch 220 to the record mode and to engage a pin 248 and lug 242 on lever 214 with parts 252, 246 on a rewind operating plate 152 so that the plate 152 cannot be moved to effect fast wind or rewind during recording. Operation of member 34 to its fourth position locks it against reverse movement therefrom in the first direction. The member 34 also moves a red record-indicating member behind a window 22, Fig. 1b. Recording may be effected by means of a built-in condenser microphone resiliently mounted, Fig. 10 (not shown), behind a window 24. Fast wind and rewind modes cannot be selected during recording but can be selected during reproduction to allow recorded cue signals to be heard whereby the tape can be stopped at predetermined points. To rewind during reproduction a button 28 is pressed to move a member 124 in the direction C whereby a spring 120 moves a lever 98 to disengage rubber belt 102 from gear 108 and engage it with a gear 104 on the supply spool shaft 38, a lever 126 also moving to engage all of contacts 132, 134, 136 together to drive the motor 44 at high speed. Movement of member 124 acts via a shaft 125 to move the rewind operating plate 152 in direction C to disengage the pinch wheel 68 via a pin 164 acting on lever 66. Fast wind is selected during reproduction on pressing a button 30 thereby moving the member 124 in a direction B to effect closing of contacts 132, 134, 136 via lever 126, the pinch roller 68 remaining engaged with the capstan. Operation of button 28 or 30 in the stop position of the recorder results in similar movements but head 46 and pinch roller 68 remain disengaged, and the motor shaft 198 is engaged with the flywheel 286 due to pivoting of lever 182 by engagement with rewind operating plate 152 in the rewind mode. The selection mechanism may be arranged to prevent selection of fast feed in the stop condition of the recorder.
