Abstract
1431930 Automatic current control BBC BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 31 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 26090/73 Heading G3R A reversing converter is regulated by a closed loop system including a controller switchable between proportional-integral and integral action, and a device for storing the value of the controller output signal when the load current is reduced during current direction changing. As shown, load current supplied by one or other of two anti-parallel converter groups 6, 7 is sensed by a measuring transformer 8 which supplies a corresponding signal to a comparator 9 and to a logic circuit 1. A desired current indicating signal is also supplied to the circuits 1, 9. The output from comparator 9 passes through a storage device 20, controller 21, reversing unit 3, firing pulse unit 40, 41 and selective switches connected to the firing circuits of the converter groups 6, 7. When the desired current signal is reversed, a zero current interval occurs, during which the logic circuit 1 switches the controller to integral action only and causes the device 20 to store its instantaneous output value. Units 3, 40 and the firing circuit switches are also controlled by signals from the logic circuit 1. During the zero current interval, the controller output voltage may be shifted by a small amount to improve drive operation by the application of a constant voltage to the controller 21.
