Abstract

1430312 Selective printing ITT GREED Ltd 7 June 1973 27167/73 Heading B6F A print hammer driving arrangement includes a hammer spring driven on its printing stroke and an electromagnet subjected to a first current sufficient to retain the hammer in a retracted position (against the action of the spring drive) and a second current sufficient to withdraw the hammer to its retracted position after the printing stroke. As shown in Fig. 2 the electromagnet 6 receives the first current (smoothed half-wave rectified alternating current) when switch 9 is closed and the second current (unsmoothed half-wave rectified alternating current) when switch 12 is closed. Another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) discloses a control system for controlling the supply of current to the electromagnet.
