Abstract

1429748 Endless conveyer-type filing cabinets SPERRY RAND CORP 23 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 17701/74 Heading B8A Containers 17 for file cards 15 supported on an endless carrier 13 and slidable on the latter from an outward card viewing position (Fig. 1) to an inward transport position (Fig. 3), are pushed by a spring 31 to obturate a light beam 41, if the carrier is not pushed right home into true locking position. The front of each container 17 has two projecting locking members 23, rigid respectively with each side of the container. In the final inward movement of the container, the members 23 spring back respective bevelled inembers 27 carried by the carrier 13 and lock behind them. During this action, lugs 33 on respective sides of the container, engage spring- loaded plungers 35. If the latch 23, 27 does not fully engage on either side, the respective plunger 35 pushes the container to a slightly outward position, thus obturating the light beam 41 (Fig. 5). This is arranged to cut-off the drive of the carrier 13. The latches 23, 27, may be released by operating a member (25) forming part of the handle (30) by which the container is manually pulled in and out. The member (25) actuates bell-cranks (53), (53), connected to the members 23, 23.
