Abstract
1429663 Injection moulding machines E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 16 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12840/73 Addition to 1429561 Heading B5A In an injection moulding machine having an axially reoiprocable screw 3, means are provided for rotating the screw at a first speed during the first portion of its rearward movement, means for detecting the position of the screw, and means for increasing the speed to a second speed when the screw is substantially midway between its forward and rearward positions, and for maintaining the speed above the first speed during the remainder of the movement of the screw so as to maintain a substantially constant temperature of the material in the injection barrel 2. Preferably the second speed is approximately 37% greater than the first and is maintained during the remainder of the screw retraction movement. Movement of the screw to the right in Fig. 1 actuates a device 26 which sends a signal to a control unit 23 which increases the speed of a motor M1 driving the screw. Four heating jackets H are supplied with heated fluid under control of control means HCM. An additional conduit 30 heats or cools the cylinder head 4 as desired. A heat controlling medium is circulated through passageways 55 in mould members 53, 54. The mould cavity 56 is provided with supply passages 57 having second sections 59 of greater cross-sectional area than first sections 58.
