Abstract

1429000 Master cylinders AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 17 Sept 1974 [19 Sept 1973] 43931/73 Heading F2F A master cylinder of the kind having two spaced parallel bores 3 and a piston 5 reciprocable in each bore comprises a piston-rod 19 connected to each piston, a yoke 21 pivotally connecting the rods, guide means including a guide part 23 pivotally connected to the yoke 21 and arranged to constrain the yoke against transverse movement relative to the bores, at least one guide surface extending parallel to the bores and means on the yoke such as an arm 31 and wheel 33 which co-operate with a said guide surface to limit angular movement of the yoke. The rod 23 is reciprocable in a bore 25 in the body 1 of the master cylinder and has a hole 27 to enable it to be connected to a brake pedal. In a modification, Fig. 2, a fixed cylindrical guide surface 35 is engageable by wheels 37 supported on arms 39 connected by a link 41 and extending from the yoke 21. In a similar arrangement (not shown) the arms diverge from the pedal toward the cylinder and in other alternative arrangements (not shown) the guide surfaces 35 can be replaced by two parallel and spaced planar surfaces.
