Abstract

1428642 Treating water with active carbon CHIYODA KAKO KENSETSU KK 4 March 1974 [5 March 1973] 9614/74 Heading C1C Water is treated with active carbon particles using a fluidized adsorption bed of powdery granular active carbon particles of a size in the range 200 to 1500 microns inclusive, preferably 250 to 800 microns. A solid-liquid countercurrent fluidized bed is preferred. In the example, waste water from a petroleum refining plant was treated using active carbon particles ranging between 250 and 500 microns diameter; the bulk s.g. was 0À65 and the specific surface area 970 m.<SP>2</SP>/g.
