Abstract

1428385 Stamping DAVY-LOEWY Ltd 21 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 25391/72 Heading B3Q Moving billets &c. 12, 13 are marked by a device 21 on a pendulum 14 the pivot 15 of which is adjustable relatively to the path of movement of the billets. A frame 17 supporting the pendulum may be turned, by a screw jack 32, about a pivot 28 to adjust the pendulum pivot 15. The frame carries a shock-absorber 43 for limiting movement of the pendulum and a jack 24 engageable with an arm 22 on the pivot 15 for raising the pendulum to change the stamp 21. If a following billet is not to be stamped, the pendulum may be caught on the upward swing by a pawl (26), Fig. 3 (not shown), engaging a ratchet on the pivot 15. A shock absorber 38 acting as a return stop for the pendulum is mounted in a carrier 40 carried by the frame 17. Stub-shafts on the carrier 40 engage curved stabilizing slots 41 in stationary members 37. A locking pin 35 for the frame 17 engages holes 36 in a bracket 37. Three pendulum markers may be used, one designating the bloom and the others the "top" and "bottom" of the bloom. A roller 46 bears on the billet after return of the pendulum.
