Abstract

1428243 Stockings KENDALL CO 19 April 1973 19147/73 Heading A3V [Also in Division Dl] A full length stocking has a circularly knit elastic leg portion incorporating elastomeric yarns, a band 14 of elastic webbing attached to and extending round most of the stocking top and an insert 15 of soft elastic fabric disposed between the ends of the bands and so arranged that, with or without twisting of the stocking, it will cover the inner thigh area. The stocking is knitted and finished and then band 14, with a corrugated slip-resistant urethane elastomer on its inner surface, is sewn to the top of the stocking with its ends abutting on the front fold where they are provided with fastening hooks. The stocking is then slit and a folded insert sewn in with the fold at the top of the stocking, hooks 17 being engageable in the upper ends of the folded insert.
