Abstract

1427342 Gas burner assemblies D H LITTLECHILD 22 Oct 1973 [5 Dec 1972] 56053/72 Heading F4T A gas burner assembly for heating a workpiece, e.g. glass, comprises a base 10 carrying in spaced positions a plurality of " snake " supports 14 each of which supports one or more gas burners 1, 4, and flexible gas-supply pipes 29 for supplying gas to the burners; each "snake" support comprising a string of rigid tube elements (33), Fig. 4 (not shown), separated from each other by balls (34) seated in adjacent ends of adjacent tube elements, the elements and balls being held together by a flexible connector (35) extending axially through the tubes (33) and through bores in the balls (34) and held taut by spring tension (37). Each burner may comprise a nozzle 1, Fig. 1, screwed into a body 4, containing a baffle 7 and one or more gauze baffles or filters 8, screwed on to a gas distributor 22, Fig. 2, or (23), (24), Fig. 3 (not shown), supported at the upper end of a " snake " 14. The pipes 29 receive a gas/air mixture via valves 27 and two valves 32 supplied with air and gas via pipes 31, 30 respectively.
