Abstract
1427110 Measuring shell bearings DAIDO METAL CO Ltd 7 June 1974 25440/74 Heading G1M Interferences e, Fig. 1 in shell bearings and the inclinations of their abutting bearing edges g, Fig. 3 with respect to axial centre lines f are measured in an apparatus in which one edge of a shell 1, Fig. 4 is held flush by clamps 8, 10, 12, with an edge of a bearing supporting block 6. The other edge of the shell is abutted by a pressing member 15 fulcrummed about a domed head 14 see also Fig. 6 (not shown) and pulled downwardly by a piston and cylinder 19, 17. The piston rod 20 may pivot about two axes at right angles in its connection with the member 15, Fig. 5, and readings from dial gauges 30, 31 are used to give not only the interferences l, Fig. 10 but measurements whereby the inclination of the member 15 and therefore the shell edge may be simply calculated. Other forms of connection of the rod 20 to the member 15 include inter engaging rings and a flexible wire or chain.
