Abstract

1427105 Valves POCLAIN 22 April 1974 [28 May 1973] 17559/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division F1] A constant delivery pump 1, Fig. 1, supplying a priority circuit 28 and a variable delivery pump 2, supplying a circuit 14, have their combined power requirements maintained within the available power of a common drive motor 3 by a valve 29 and a regulator 16 which control the output of the pump 2. The valve 29 has a spring-loaded piston 31 with a groove 43 which connects inlet and outlet orifices 40, 53, and a bore 42 which connects inlet 40 with outlet 41. If the load on pump 2 begins to rise to an unacceptable value, the increase in pressure is transmitted through a line 36 to valve 29 where it depresses the piston 31. Because the length of the constricted groove 43 is shortened as the piston 31 descends, a higher pressure is transmitted from the outlet 41 to a piston 45 through a line 50. This raises a rod 18 against springs 25 and decreases the output of the pump 2.
