Abstract

1426653 Typewriters SCM CORP 8 Jan 1974 [8 Jan 1973] 00888/74 Heading B6F Means to regulate the touch of key levers 18 of a typewriter comprises springs 20 connected between each key lever and a pivotable bail 22, counter-balancing springs 42, (34, Fig. 2, not shown) acting against the springs 20, and means to pivot the bail 22, wherein on pivoting the bail the torque applied thereto by the counter-balancing springs varies concomitantly with the variation in the force of the springs 20. As the force of the springs 20 is increased, the distance between the point of action of the counter-balancing springs and the shaft 24 of the bail 22 is also increased. A knob 64 is provided to pivot the bail 22, a spiral cam track (74, Fig. 3, not shown) being provided in its underside engaging a pin 62 on pivoting arm 52 linked to arm 46 to which counter-balancing spring 42 is connected.
