Abstract

1426519 Valves ACF INDUSTRIES Inc 22 May 1973 24237/73 Heading F2V Leakage past a spherical valve plug 32 is prevented by a sealing arrangement comprising an annular seat 50 slidably mounted in the valve housing 12 and supporting in serrated recess 96 an annular resilient sealing member 86 having a lip 90 engaging the plug surface 39 under the action of 0-ring 106 in groove 100. Sealing member 86 may be of P.T.F.E. or nylon. Seat 50 is urged towards plug 32 by circumferentially spaced springs 82, O-rings 68, 72 effecting sealing between the seat and housing 12. Lubricant passages 73, 74, 76 are provided.
