Abstract

1426181 Screw conveyers D COWLING 30 March 1973 [22 Jan 1972] 3129/72 Heading B8A Conveying apparatus comprises a first auger 36, mounted in a bearing 42, in a horizontal channel 14, drivingly connected by a universal joint 46, free to float, to a second auger 50, mounted at its upper end in a bearing 52, in an upwardly inclined delivery cylinder 24. Material from a hopper 26 is fed by the augers 36, 50 to an outlet aperture 56 formed in the curved surface of the cylinder 24. Each auger 36, 50 has its blade 40, 58 extending at least partially over the universal joint 46 and has a strengthening rib 60 provided at its peripheral edge on such extending portion. The apparatus may be rendered portable by wheels 62 on supporting struts 64. As shown the apparatus has additional lengths of channel 14 to extend it to any desired length, further bearings 82 being provided for the auger 36.
