Abstract

1425938 Cervical dilators DERRITRON ELECTRONICS Ltd 14 June 1973 [15 June 1972] 28033/72 Heading A5R A cervical dilator comprises a holder supporting a probe for insertion into the cervix, and an electromagnetic vibrator arranged to impart vibration to the holder and probe in a direction transverse to the length of the probe. The probe is rigidly secured in a socket 12 on a casing 10 shaped to facilitate holding in the hand and containing an elongated armature pivoted about axis 35 and provided with an AC coil 36. A pair of parallel pole pieces 46, 47 extend on opposite sides of armature 34 and are joined by a yoke 48 carrying a DC coil 49. The structure 46-48 is rigidly secured in casing 10 and armature 34 carries a weight 40. In a modification the pole pieces 46, 47 are connected by one or more yokes incorporating permanent magnets. In a further modification the armature is rigidly secured in the casing and the structure 46-48 pivotally mounted.
