Abstract

1425626 Electro-erosion; making dies and moulds NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT REZINOVYKN I LATEXNYKH IZDELY 14 Aug 1973 38370/73 Headings B3V and B3A [Also in Divisions B5 and C7] A pair of articles which are mirror images of one another are formed by shaping material to produce one of the articles by means of a first tool, Fig. 1 comprising components 4 releasably secured together, dismantling the tool and reassembling the components 4 to form a second tool, Fig. 4, which is a mirror image of the first and shaping material with the second tool to form the other article. In the manufacture of the tool, a plastics die (Fig. 5, not shown) is used to shape a graphite workpiece into the desired shape Fig. 1, from which graphite plates 4 1 -4 n are prepared and releasably secured together. The resulting tool is used to produce an article (Fig. 2, not shown), e.g. a die, a shoe mould, casting mould by electrical discharge or electro-chemical machining. The plates 4 of the tool are then reassembled in the reverse order 4 n -4 1 , Fig. 4, and the resulting tool used to produce a second article (Fig. 5, not shown) which is a mirror image of the first. The tool may alternately be formed of metal plates 4.
