Abstract
1425594 A method of filling aerosol cans T J SMRT 22 Oct 1973 [2 Jan 1973] 49034/73 Heading B8T A method of filling aerosol spray marking cans comprising the steps of introducing into a can 10 through an aperture 19 of the can 10, a marking material, securing a valve 22 to the aperture 19, introducing a propellant under pressure into the can 10 through the valve 22 and releasing a quantity of substantially propellants from the can 10 by re-opening the valve 22. The cans 10 are moved along by a conveyer 11, which stops each of the cans momentarily under each of the stations 12, 13, 14 and 15 whereby, station 12 delivers marking material and propellant-solvent into the cans through nozzles 16a and 16b respectively, station 13, with the aid of a vacuum crimper tool, crimps an aerosol valve 22 on the cans and provides a partial vacuum within the cans, station 14 uses a nozzle 25 to open the valve 22 to apply an aerosol propellant into the can and releases the nozzle 25 to close the valve 22, and station 15, with the aid of a nozzle 26, opens the valve 22 to release, for a pre-determined period, a quantity of propellants from the cans 10. The length of "degassing" as achieved at station 15, varies approximately from 1 to 60 seconds and preferably between 5 and 25 seconds.
