Joist floors with concrete filling; joist floors with block or slab filling; roofs; reinforced-concrete beams.-A floor or roof is formed without centering and consists of specially-shaped reinforcedconcrete joists and concrete filling, with or withcut filler blocks or slabs between the joists. The joists a, Fig. 3, are formed with lower flanges b, a head c of bevelled and undercut section, and a longitudinal groove d at each side. The filler blocks h, which may be reinforced with wire netting or wire, are rabbeted at their bearing-edges h<1> and have grooves h<2> at the sides to key with the concrete. The flat ceiling portion of the blocks may be separate from the arched portion, or it may be omitted. The top and bottom faces of the blocks may have dovetailed grooves to key with the concrete and ceiling plaster, and the joists and blocks may be faced on the underside with a fire-proof material, such as asbestos and cement.
