Abstract

1424728 Aerating and agitating apparatus HITACHI Ltd 24 May 1973 25010/73 Heading B1C An apparatus for aerating and agitating liquids or slurries comprises a vessel 1, Fig. 1, a gas sparger 5 at the lower end of the vessel and a plurality of vertically spaced perforated members 2 each having a depending skirt 3 extending from its free periphery. A passage is defined between the vessel wall and the skirts 3 for the circulation of the liquid material therethrough. The members 2 may be supported by members 6 Figs. 1, 2, by a central vertical rotary shaft (7 Fig. 3 not shown) for added agitation, or by an edge or edges to the inner wall of the vessel (Figs. 5, 6 not shown). A cooling coil 4 may be provided in the circulation passages.
