Abstract

1424146 Door lock set VELTO INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 June 1974 [25 June 1973] 25880/ 74 Heading E2A A door lock set comprises a tubular housing 30 extendable through a door opening 17, an end plate 40, 41 secured to each opposite end of the tubular housing 30 for engaging opposite faces of the door, a shaft 74 projecting through the tubular housing 30 into aligned openings in the end plates 40, 41 an outside knob 60 non-rotatably and slidably secured to one end of the shaft 74 and being rotatably mounted on one end plate 41, an inside knob 55 rotatably mounted on the other end plate 40 for sliding movement longitudinally of the shaft 74 between in and out positions, a rotor 76 non-rotatably securing the inside knob 55 to the opposite end of the shaft 74 and being movable longitudinally with said knob 55 to the in and out positions. The lock set further includes a slide block 90 mounted within the tubular housing 30 for sliding movement on an axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the shaft 74, a latch bolt 102 connected to the slide block 90 and slidably projecting through an opening in the tubular housing for movement relative to an edge of the door between extended and retracted positions, spring means 103 biasing the latch bolt 102 to the extended position, drive means connecting the rotor 76 to the slide block 90 whereby rotation of the shaft 74 in either direction moves the latch bolt 102 towards the retracted position, said drive means allowing sliding movement of the rotor relative to the slide block and locking means engaged only when the inside handle knob 55 is in the in position for interlocking the rotor 76 with the housing 30 and the slide block 90. As shown kickoff means for disengaging the locking means are provided, said kickoff means operating when the latch bolt 102 is forced to the retracted position by pressure applied to the outer end of the bolt. The kick off means comprises a bevelled edge on the slide block which engages a cam face on the rotor 76 (Fig. 10, not shown) to force the inside knob 55 to its out position. The locking means consists of lugs (156, Fig. 6, not shown) on the housing which enter recesses in the rotor and bosses (151, 152 Fig. 6, not shown) on the rotor which lodge in slots in the block 90 when the inside knob 55 is in its in position. The locking means may be rendered inoperative by disconnecting the inside knob 55 from the associated end plate 40 and re-connecting it after a rotation through 90‹. This brings shoulders on the rotor into notches in the knob 55 (Fig. 12, not shown). Each knob 55, 60 is mounted on its respective end plate 40, 41 by interengaging means 79, 81; 69, 70 respectively the interengaging means being held in engagement by a wedge 58 on a removable cover 56 of the inside knob 55 and the shaft 74 resectively. An aperture 63 is provided in the outside knob 60 such that the locking means may be disengaged from the outside of the door lock set. The bolt 102 is connected to the block 90 by a T-shaped member of the former lodging in a T-sectioned groove of the latter.
