Abstract

1422751 Brake actuators KNORR-BREMSE GmbH 8 Jan 1974 [9 Jan 1973] 00912/74 Heading F2F A base-plate 1 carries on one side a brake piston and cylinder assembly 2 and an adjuster mechanism 3 having a connection 15 for a brake linkage, and on the other side means connecting the assembly and the mechanism, a piston-rod 11 of the assembly and part of the mechanism extending through the base-plate to the connecting means. The latter is in the form of a bifurcated lever 5 pivoted at one end in a housing 4 on the base-plate and abutting curved contact surfaces 17 of the mechanism, so that downward lever movement, caused by a spring 9 in the cylinder assembly (upon loss of pressure) actuates the connection 15 to actuate railway vehicle brake pads 20, Fig. 4, via levers 21, the left hand levers being pivoted on the housing 4. The cylinder assembly 2 may be further from the pads 20 than the mechanism 3.
