Abstract

1422539 Mineral mining installation GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 30 April 1973 [2 May 1972 (2)] 20435/73 Heading E1F In a mineral mining installation in which a tool 1 e.g. a plough is moved along a face parallel to a conveyor and has two portions which can be moved with respect to each other, the relative movement of the tool portions is controlled by the position of at least one elongate control member which extends along the length of the face; a follower riding on the or each control member moving a respective tool portion. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2 one control member is in the form of a number of pivotally connected bars 60 extending parallel to a conveyor 13 and each bar is movable by a ram 42. A follower 61 is mounted on one arm 49 of a lever pivoted at 45, movement of the follower moving an upper slidable portion 25 of a plough which is mounted on the other arm 46 of the lever. A guide member 37 is engaged by an arm 38 on a plough portion 23 pivoted at 24. An adjustable guide 14 forms a further control member for the plough base 21. Alternatively channels may be formed in the control bars to slidably receive an end of the lever (Fig. 1, not shown); a linked arrangement of two pivoted levers can be mounted between control bars and plough portion (Fig. 3, not shown); or the control bars can be mounted for side to side adjustment and an axially displaceable push rod be used to transmit movement to the movable plough portion (Figs. 4, 5, not shown). On a modification of this last embodiment a lever mounted for pivotal movement about two mutually perpendicular axes can be placed between the control bars and the push rods; movement of this lever about one axis causing axial displacement of the push rod to move the plough portion, and movement of the lever about the other axis operating a further movable plough portion (Figs. 6-11, not shown). In the embodiment shown in Fig. 12 control bars 220 are mounted adjustably on levers 213 extending across the conveyor, and the follower comprises an open channel 222 in movable plough portion 203. In a modification (Fig. 13, not shown) the levers 213 are replaced by simple cantilevered bars.
