Abstract

1421770 Induction motors SEALEDMOTOR CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 26 March 1973 [5 April 1972] 15778/72 Heading H2A In a split phase eddy current disc type induction motor fan unit, two partially slotted annular stator core parts 3,4 (each shown rotated through 90‹ in Fig. 1 to face the viewer) carrying separate phases of a field winding (Figs. 4, 5, not shown), are positioned facing one another on opposite sides of a copper or aluminium disc rotor 1, and the core parts are arranged such that unslotted regions of one part align with slotted regions of the other; each core part thereby provides a low reluctance return path for the flux generated by the other part. Fan blades (10, Fig. 3 not shown), are joined to the periphery of the disc 1, and the disc extends through an annular slot (12) in a casing (11).
