Abstract

1420966 Surface wave filters STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 6 Dec 1973 [12 Dec 1972] 57252/72 Heading H3V A surface wave acoustic wave filter, comprising a piezoelectric body 30 carrying input and output interdigitated transducer sets 31, 32 interspersed along the body, has a respective electromagnetic energy reflecting means connected across each transducer set to obtain a high-Q resonance arrangement. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the energy reflecting means comprise similar electrical susceptance networks jB. The Fig. 4 embodiment comprises a filter 41 with a characteristic impedance Z 2 connected in series with two further surface wave devices 42, 43 each having a characteristic impedance Z 1 and thus acting as an energy reflecting means. Fig. 5 (not shown) depicts four filters (50-53) connected in series and having the same characteristic impedance. Connected across their end and intermediate connections are susceptance networks (54-58), the whole arrangement being electrically symmetric. In a final embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) a common electrode is provided as a meander line which forms input transducers with a first set of fingers (61) and output transducers with a second set (62).
