Abstract

1419889 Explosive forming KHARKOVSKY AVIATSIONNY INSTITUT 21 Dec 1973 59613/73 Heading B3Q Plant for explosive-forming includes a splitter 9, Fig. 1, for dividing a column of liquid raised during a forming operation, the splitter being connected by a shock absorber 35 to a support 23. At its ends the support 23 is mounted between opposed springs 25, 26, Fig. 3, on at least two posts 8. The mounting at the righthand post 8 permits release of the support for rotation about its left-hand end and comprises a spring-pressed pin 31 for engaging a pocket in a tongue 30 on the support 23. The support 23 is turned manually or by an electric hoist, Cylindrical work 4 to be expanded in a die by a charge 7 is placed on a plate 13 which rests on a rubber mat (not shown). Water issues from adjustable jets 6 in a ring 5 and drains through a grating. Access to the vessel 1 is through a door (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the splitter is surrounded by a perforated frustoconical sleeve (38), and in a further form, Fig. 5, the surrounding sleeve 39 has an inner perforated flange and a spring 42 is arranged between the splitter 9 and the shock-absorber 35. The volume enclosed by the sleeve 39 is approximately equal to the volume of water ejected during forming. Lights and a television camera (not shown) are incorporated in the vessel 1. Flat blanks may be shaped.
