Abstract

1419532 Heart pacemakers JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY 28 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 18089/74 Divided out of 1419531 Heading A5R The disclosure is identical to that in Specification 1419531 but the claims relate to a demand inhibited implantable heart pacemaker having a catheter-type electrical cable terminating at electrodes for location at preselected positions in the patient's heart for applying heart-stimulating pulses thereto from a stimulating-pulse generating first electronic circuit portion of the pacemaker and for coupling R- wave signals from the heart to a second electronic circuit portion of the pacemaker, said second circuit portion monitoring the patient's heart beat and inhibiting pulse generation by said first circuit portion in the presence of an acceptable natural heart beat rate, and switching means for selectively connecting the output of said first circuit portion to said catheter-type cable only when an output pulse is being generated by said first circuit portion.
